Specifications
All flush veneered Hollow Core doors shall be GENEERCO Institutional Hollow Core Doors or GENEERCO Royal Flush Hollow Core Doors as manufactured by General Veneer Manufacturing Co.
Face Veneers: Face veneers shall be standard thickness, thoroughly dried, and of the species, cut and grade specified. Faces shall be book matched unless otherwise specified (paint grade excepted), and properly sanded. GENEERCO doors are also available with Medium Density Overlay faces or with High Pressure Laminate faces and edges.
Crossbands: Crossbands shall be thoroughly dried, with a minimum thickness of 1/10, extending the full width of the door, with the grain at right angles to the face veneer. The face and crossband (and innerband, if 7-ply) shall be bonded together into a panel before applying it to the core. The innerface of this panel shall be completely covered with adhesive in the process of laying up with the core, so as to form a water-resistant surface on the inner faces of the door.
Core: The core shall consist of 5/8 wide soft wood stringers running vertically. The space between stringers shall not exceed 1 1/2, and the stringers shall be locked into the rails of the door.
Edgebands: The exposed stiles shall be of the same or similar species as the face veneer. The stiles and rails of the Institutional Hollow Core Door shall be 5 wide. The Royal Flush Hollow Core Door stiles are 1 1/2 wide with lock blocks 2 3/4 x 24 long on each side of the door. Each exposed stile may contain one fingerjoint unless otherwise specified. The rails are 3 1/2. If required, wider lock blocks and higher bottom rails for kickplates can be provided.
Adhesive: Face veneers and crossbands shall be bonded to the core with a Type 1 resin in a hot-platen press.
